Reps. Kristin Marcell, Joe Hogan, Shelby Labs, and Sen. Frank Farry have announced that Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT) will receive a state grant amounting to $1,489,608 from the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program. The funding is allocated for replacing 43 rooftop HVAC units and upgrading the building’s automation system.

The project aims to enhance safety by integrating the HVAC system with smoke detectors, fire alarms, and carbon monoxide sensors. This initiative ensures that local property taxpayers are not financially burdened with these necessary upgrades. "Investing in our educational institutions is vital to ensuring safe and effective learning environments," stated Marcell. She highlighted the improvements in energy efficiency and overall safety at the school.

Senator Farry expressed satisfaction in advocating for the funding alongside Rep. Marcell: "A safe and healthy learning environment is essential to ensuring our students, teachers and schools are successful."

Hogan emphasized that this funding ensures students and staff benefit from an optimal learning environment without imposing costs on local taxpayers. Labs added that such investments are crucial for student success, supporting health and safety improvements.

Dr. Mark Covelle, MBIT Administrative Director, conveyed gratitude for the support from Rep. Marcell and Sen. Farry: “This project not only helps our school but also supports our four sending districts.” He noted MBIT's record interest, enrollment, and achievement levels.
