Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick has announced the allocation of over $2 million in federal funding for infrastructure projects in Historic Bristol Borough. This funding is part of a broader initiative to direct federal resources to projects benefiting Pennsylvania's 1st Congressional District, as outlined in the FY22 and FY24 Consolidated Appropriations Act.
Fitzpatrick secured more than $27.5 million for 14 community projects through the Community Project Funding Request process for the 118th Congress, included in the Fiscal Year 2024 budget. He also obtained over $19 million for 13 projects in FY23 and more than $6.6 million for 10 projects in FY22.
The key highlights of this recent funding include:
- Sound Barrier Construction: A total of $1.7 million will be used to build a transparent sound barrier along the Amtrak corridor from Green Lane to Garfield Street. This project aims to reduce noise pollution and improve residents' quality of life while upgrading the Trenton Avenue Streetscape trail to meet ADA standards.
- Bristol Waterfront Park & Maple Beach Road Improvement Project: With $500,000 allocated, this project will renovate Bristol Waterfront Park by upgrading its stormwater management system and reconstructing the Maple Beach Bridge over Otter Creek.
Congressman Fitzpatrick stated, "Historic Bristol Borough has long been a cornerstone of our PA-1 community... This $2.2 million investment not only enhances the quality of life for residents but also strengthens the borough as a premier destination for visitors."
Bristol Borough Mayor Ralph DiGuiseppe III expressed gratitude, saying, “The Bristol Borough Council, our residents, and I are beyond grateful... The Congressman has never let the Borough down whenever we needed him.”
Additional community projects that have received critical funding through Fitzpatrick's efforts include support for organizations like Family Service Association of Bucks County and United Way of Bucks County, among others.
