Langhorne, PA – Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick has announced the allocation of $727,000 in Community Project Funding to modernize emergency services in Bucks County. This funding is part of the FY24 Consolidated Appropriations Act and aims to enhance technology services for public safety.
The funding was secured through the Community Project Funding Request process for the 118th Congress. In addition to this allocation, Fitzpatrick has obtained over $27.5 million for 14 community projects within Pennsylvania's 1st Congressional District. Previous years saw him secure over $19 million for FY23 and more than $6.6 million for FY22.
Bucks County's emergency services, including its Sheriff's Office, will benefit from these funds by upgrading their communication technologies. Police, fire, and emergency medical services across 117 departments will replace outdated portable radio batteries and chargers. Additionally, body-worn cameras will be introduced to promote accountability and build trust between law enforcement and the community.
“PA-1 is home to some of the finest first responders in our nation," said Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1). "This initiative represents a significant advancement in that mission, enhancing their safety and...the safety of our entire community."
Fred Harran, Bucks County Sheriff, added that “transparency and accountability are critical for building community trust...This grant will help to ensure transparency not only in the Bucks County Sheriff's Office but also in the Department of Corrections and the Bucks County Public Safety Department."
The project focuses on maintaining effective communication among first responders during emergencies and increasing transparency with body-worn cameras.
Fitzpatrick has also secured additional funding for various projects within Bucks County including infrastructure upgrades and community revitalization efforts.
