Langhorne, PA – Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) announced a $4,000,000 Community Project Funding (CPF) grant to establish a new Senior Center in Bristol Township. This initiative is part of his ongoing efforts to secure resources for the senior community in Pennsylvania's 1st Congressional District.
The CPF was introduced by Fitzpatrick into the FY2024 Consolidated Appropriations Act under the Community Project Funding program. This program allows Members of Congress to direct federal funds towards projects within their districts that address significant community needs.
Through the Community Project Funding Request process for the 118th Congress, included in the Fiscal Year 2024 budget, Fitzpatrick secured over $27.5 million for 14 community projects benefiting First District constituents. In previous years, he secured more than $19 million for 13 projects in FY23 and over $6.6 million for 10 projects in FY22.
The new Senior Center will provide a safe environment where senior citizens can access professional services and engage in activities. The need for this facility has become urgent since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will offer pandemic prevention measures such as expanded rooms for social distancing and new outdoor gathering spaces.
“One of the last few pieces of the Township infrastructure that needed to be upgraded is the Senior Center,” stated Bristol Township Council President Craig Bowen. “I want to really thank Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick for all his support to help make our Township a great place to live, work and play.”
“Our seniors are the heartbeat of our community," said Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1). "Securing $4 million for this state-of-the-art facility was a fight I was proud to lead, knowing how much it will empower our seniors, enrich their lives, and provide them with the resources, care, support, and opportunities they deserve."
Fitzpatrick also highlighted other critical funding secured:
- $2.9 Million for Family Service Association of Bucks County
- $1 Million for Bucks Country Crisis Stabilization Center
- $2.9 Million for United Way of Bucks County
- $4 Million for Route 1 Corridor Revitalization
