The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advancing a study on the Woodbourne Road Rail Crossing in Middletown Township. This development comes as part of an initiative supported by Sen. Frank Farry (R-6) and Rep. Joe Hogan, who have announced that PennDOT has secured a grant through the Federal Railroad Administration under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
The study will focus on three rail crossings in the Commonwealth, including those at Township Line and Woodbourne Road. Sen. Farry and Rep. Hogan have confirmed that PennDOT has finalized the grant agreement with the Federal Railroad Administration and appointed a consultant to conduct the study.
Sen. Farry and Rep. Hogan have been actively involved in addressing issues related to these crossings, collaborating with federal authorities and CSX representatives to explore potential solutions at both state and national levels. Recently, they met with staff from Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick’s office to discuss ongoing concerns at the Woodbourne Train Station.
“While not a solution, this is a step in the right direction to continue to bring state and national attention to this issue and therefore hopefully come up with a permanent solution to solve this problem,” Farry stated.
Residents experiencing problems such as blocked crossings or idling trains are encouraged to report their complaints to the Federal Railroad Administration via their online reporting form. Sen. Farry and Rep. Hogan intend for these complaints to be included in PennDOT's study.
