U.S. Representatives and Senators have come together to introduce a bipartisan bicameral bill aimed at addressing the alarming rise of antisemitism in the United States. The Countering Antisemitism Act has been put forward by a group of lawmakers including U.S. Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick, Chris Smith, Randy Weber, and Kathy Manning, as well as Senators Jacky Rosen and James Lankford.

Congressman Fitzpatrick expressed his concerns about the increasing acts of antisemitism in the country, stating, "Antisemitism has no place in our country." He highlighted the importance of protecting Jewish communities and emphasized the need for federal government intervention in combating antisemitism.

Congressman Chris Smith, who authored the law creating the international Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, emphasized the urgency of addressing antisemitic violence, especially in the wake of recent terrorist attacks. He stressed the importance of implementing the bill effectively to ensure the safety of Jewish communities.

Congresswoman Manning also emphasized the critical need for comprehensive action to combat antisemitism, particularly in light of the recent surge in hatred and violence against American Jews. She detailed the provisions of the bill, highlighting its focus on strengthening federal efforts to protect the Jewish community and combat antisemitism.

Congressman Weber echoed the sentiments of his colleagues, condemning the rise of antisemitism and emphasizing the responsibility of Congress to take action to protect Jewish communities from discrimination and violence.

Senator Rosen highlighted the need for a coordinated government response to combat antisemitism, emphasizing the importance of establishing a National Coordinator to Counter Antisemitism for the first time ever. She underlined the bill's aim to address anti-Jewish hatred and violence across the U.S.

Senator Lankford emphasized the right of all Americans to practice their faith without fear of discrimination or violence. He stressed the importance of the bill in providing transparent oversight and protection for Jewish communities in the face of rising acts of antisemitism.

The Countering Antisemitism Act proposes various measures, including the establishment of a National Coordinator to Counter Antisemitism, conducting annual analyses of online antisemitism, and requiring federal agencies to report on their efforts to counter antisemitism. Additionally, the bill aims to designate May as "Jewish American Heritage Month" in federal law.

The bipartisan efforts of Representatives Fitzpatrick, Smith, Manning, and Weber and Senators Rosen and Lankford reflect a commitment to combating antisemitism in the U.S. The introduction of this legislation marks a significant step towards addressing the growing threat of antisemitism and protecting the rights and safety of Jewish communities across the country.
