Today, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick announced the allocation of $1.8 million in Community Project Funding for significant behavioral health and housing initiatives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. This funding is part of a broader effort to direct federal resources to projects that benefit Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District.
The funding includes $1.4 million for Woods Services to construct a four-story building dedicated to affordable housing for low-income residents with intellectual disabilities, autism, traumatic brain injuries, and other serious conditions. Tine Hansen-Turton, President and CEO of Woods System of Care, stated: “Many people who work in Bucks County can’t afford to live here, a problem that Woods System of Care is addressing with the development of affordable housing on our property.”
Additionally, $400,000 has been allocated for the renovation and expansion of St. Luke’s Quakertown Campus Behavioral Health Unit. The project aims to increase capacity from 19 to 32 beds and add up to eight additional beds for patients with severe mental illness. Dennis Pfleiger, President of St. Luke’s Quakertown and Upper Bucks Campus said: “This grant is vitally important for our community and allows us to renovate our mental health unit and expand our number of beds.”
Congressman Fitzpatrick emphasized his commitment by stating: "The true measure of a community’s strength lies in how we care for our neighbors."
These efforts are part of Fitzpatrick's ongoing work securing over $27.5 million in funding for various community projects through the Fiscal Year 2024 budget.
