Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick announced the allocation of $4,707,286 in Community Project Funding (CPF) to address PFAS contamination and improve sediment reduction technologies in Pennsylvania's 1st Congressional District. This funding is part of the FY24 Consolidated Appropriations Act.

Fitzpatrick secured more than $27.5 million for 14 community projects benefiting First District constituents through the Community Project Funding Request process for the 118th Congress. In previous years, he obtained over $19 million for 13 projects in FY23 and over $6.6 million for 10 projects in FY22.

Among the funded initiatives is a project by Horsham Water and Sewer Authority receiving $4 million. This project aims to rehabilitate sanitary sewer infrastructure to reduce PFAS contaminated groundwater spread. It involves lining approximately 20 miles of sewers and laterals with Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP). The authority expressed gratitude: “We are thrilled to have been awarded this $4 Million Community Project Funding Grant... We are grateful to Congressman Fitzpatrick and his team for their support in obtaining this vital funding.”

Langhorne Manor Borough received $707,286 to implement infiltration trenches reducing sediment discharge into Neshaminy and Mill creeks by up to 95%. This aligns with Bucks County’s environmental goals.

Fitzpatrick emphasized: “Combatting PFAS contamination has been a pivotal mission throughout my congressional career... Access to clean water is a fundamental right... I am proud to have fought for the funding that will modernize our infrastructure and strengthen our defenses against contaminants threatening our environment and public health."

Other community projects receiving critical funding include those focused on family services, crisis stabilization, senior centers, health expansions, economic self-sufficiency programs, infrastructure upgrades, emergency services, public safety enhancement, behavioral health initiatives, and more.
