Several community projects in Bucks County have received state funding, according to an announcement by Rep. K.C. Tomlinson (R-Bucks) and Sen. Frank Farry (R-Bucks). The grants come from the Pennsylvania Local Share Account (LSA) program and the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Greenway, Trails and Recreation Program.

Bensalem Township has been awarded $679,709 to replace poles and light fixtures at the Bensalem Ramblers baseball and softball fields at Robert Yezzi Memorial Park. The Bucks County Redevelopment Authority, acting on behalf of Holy Ghost Preparatory School in Bensalem, will receive $500,000 for a campus lighting project.

In addition, Hulmeville Borough will receive $189,480 to construct a walking and jogging trail, a small ball field, a basketball court, and a picnic pavilion at Hulmeville Borough Hall Park.

“I am thrilled to see this funding come into our district,” said Tomlinson. “Over $1.3 million is being invested in our communities through these grants and these projects will provide visible benefits for our community.”

“It is always encouraging to see funding awarded to support the schools and youth organizations that play such a vital role in our community,” said Farry. “I was proud to advocate along with Rep. Tomlinson for these projects that will ensure our young people can participate in more activities in a safe and secure environment.”

The LSA program provides grant funding from gaming revenues distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority under the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 2004-71). The DCED program is funded through Act 13 of 2012’s Marcellus Legacy Fund, which supports greenways, recreational trails, parks, open space development, rehabilitation projects, and beautification efforts across Pennsylvania.
