Reps. Kristin Marcell and Martina White have introduced House Bill 2615 to amend Pennsylvania’s Human Relations Act by incorporating the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's (IHRA) definition of antisemitism. The bill aims to address the increase in antisemitic incidents across the state, particularly in universities, following the October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel by Hamas.

"Jewish Pennsylvanians deserve robust protections from discrimination," said Marcell. "This legislation ensures the Human Relations Act is equipped to address and prevent antisemitism in workplaces, schools and communities."

White added that "there are already 35 other states that took similar action. Pennsylvania is lagging in protecting Jewish people from the rising tide of antisemitism." She emphasized that "taking action now will help ensure a safer environment for all."

The bill seeks to align Pennsylvania with other states that have adopted the IHRA definition, providing protection against hostility based on faith and heritage.
