Reps. Kristin Marcell, Shelby Labs, and Joe Hogan have announced that the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT) has received an $85,000 grant. This funding comes from the Career and Technical Education Equipment Grant program and will be used to purchase new welding equipment for students to gain skills in automation and manufacturing.

The grant is part of a larger initiative by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, which has allocated $4.5 million in competitive grants to over 58 career and technical centers and school districts. Each recipient can receive up to $85,000 to buy or upgrade equipment for approved educational programs. The goal is to give students practical experience with industry-relevant tools, preparing them for careers that are in demand while supporting workforce development.

"Investments like these provide students with hands-on experience using cutting-edge technology," stated Marcell. She added that MBIT plans to acquire a collaborative welding robot, known as a cobot, ensuring students have access to modern technology needed for current and future workplaces.

"This grant will help in advancing educational opportunities for MBIT students," said Labs. "Securing this funding will allow students to learn industry-specific skills that can be applied to future employment opportunities."

Hogan commented on MBIT's dedication by saying, "MBIT continues to demonstrate its commitment to student success and innovation." He emphasized that the funding helps maintain the institution's leadership role in preparing students for meaningful careers while benefiting both the local economy and the state.
