Bucks County is set to receive nearly $1.4 million in grants aimed at supporting affordable housing projects, as announced by Senator Frank Farry, chair of the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee. The funds are part of a broader effort to address housing needs within the county.
Senator Farry expressed satisfaction with securing these resources, stating, "As chair of the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee, I am pleased to help secure these funds to assist with the high demand of housing concerns throughout Bucks County." He also noted that recent legislative efforts aim to increase funding for PHARE, which will extend assistance to more individuals.
The Pennsylvania Housing Financing Agency has announced these grants through the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement Fund (PHARE). Established in 2010, PHARE's mission is to facilitate the creation, rehabilitation, and support of affordable housing across Pennsylvania. The funding for these grants comes from impact fees on natural gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale region and from the state's Realty Transfer Tax.
