Reps. Kristin Marcell, Joe Hogan, Shelby Labs, and Sen. Frank Farry have announced a $1,489,608 state grant awarded to the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT). The funding comes from the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program and will be used to replace 43 rooftop HVAC units and upgrade the building’s automation system.

The project aims to enhance safety by integrating the HVAC system with smoke detectors, fire alarms, and carbon monoxide sensors. This state-funded initiative ensures that local property taxpayers are not burdened with the costs of these upgrades.

“Investing in our educational institutions is vital to ensuring safe and effective learning environments,” said Marcell. “This grant will improve energy efficiency and strengthen the overall safety of the school.”

Senator Farry expressed his support for the project: “A safe and healthy learning environment is essential to ensuring our students, teachers and schools are successful.”

“These dollars will ensure our students and staff are learning in the best environment possible,” added Hogan.

Labs emphasized the importance of such investments: “It is critical we continue to invest in projects that contribute to the success of our students.”

Dr. Mark Covelle, MBIT Administrative Director, expressed gratitude for this support: “This project not only helps our school but also supports our four sending districts... This investment is important in meeting the needs of the school.”
