Reps. K.C. Tomlinson and Joe Hogan, both Republicans from Bucks County, together with Sen. Frank Farry, also a Republican from Bucks County, have announced that their legislation targeting street racing has been signed into law by Governor Josh Shapiro. The bill, initially proposed by Tomlinson and Hogan in the House and supported by a companion bill introduced by Farry in the Senate, aims to address the growing issue of illegal street racing.

"This is a crucial piece of legislations. We are seeing more and more of these illegal street racing events in our area," said Tomlinson. She emphasized her commitment to community safety as this marks her fourth crime-related legislation becoming law.

Hogan expressed gratitude for working alongside Tomlinson on this matter, stating, "Act 103 of 2024 will keep our streets and communities safer and is a bipartisan solution to a troubling crime."

Farry highlighted the dangers posed by illegal street racing: "Illegal street racing has become an incredibly dangerous issue and needs to stop before more people or law enforcement officers are hurt or killed at these events." He pointed out that holding event organizers accountable with penalties is essential for reducing such incidents.

The newly enacted Act 103 of 2024 updates existing penalties for street racing by increasing fines from $250 up to $2,000 per violation. It also introduces measures like vehicle confiscation for repeat offenders. Additionally, organizers could face third-degree felony charges if serious injuries or fatalities occur due to a race they organized.
