Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, representing Pennsylvania's 1st District and serving as Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism, issued a statement on the first anniversary of the Hamas attacks on Israel. Reflecting on the events of October 7th last year, Fitzpatrick described it as "a day of unimaginable horror," marking it as the deadliest day for Jewish people since World War II.
Fitzpatrick emphasized that this anniversary serves as a reminder of the lasting impact on families and communities affected by the violence. He stated, "Israel will endure, and those who seek its destruction will never prevail."
Following these attacks, there was a reported 358% increase in antisemitic incidents in the United States over two months compared to the previous year. This trend continues globally. Fitzpatrick stressed that society must not allow antisemitism to become normalized or let terror take root.
In his role with the task force, Fitzpatrick committed to supporting and protecting Jewish communities both domestically and internationally. He vowed to continue advocating against antisemitism at all levels: "I have, and will always, push forward and champion initiatives to confront the scourge of antisemitism."
Concluding his statement, Fitzpatrick called for unity against terrorism and antisemitism while expressing solidarity with Israel: "Though hatred seeks to divide us, the resilience of the human spirit and the strength of our shared values will prevail."
