Reps. Kristin Marcell and Martina White have introduced House Bill 2615 in Pennsylvania, aiming to amend the state's Human Relations Act by incorporating the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's (IHRA) definition of antisemitism. This move seeks to address the increase in antisemitic incidents across Pennsylvania, particularly at universities, following the October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel by Hamas.

"Jewish Pennsylvanians deserve robust protections from discrimination," stated Marcell. "This legislation ensures the Human Relations Act is equipped to address and prevent antisemitism in workplaces, schools and communities."

White emphasized that "there are already 35 other states that took similar action. Pennsylvania is lagging in protecting Jewish people from the rising tide of antisemitism." She added, "Taking action now will help ensure a safer environment for all."

The bill aims to align Pennsylvania with other states that have adopted the IHRA definition, thereby helping protect citizens from hostility based on their faith and heritage.
