Langhorne, PA – Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) announced the allocation of a $1,000,000 Community Project Funding (CPF) grant for the establishment of the Bright Path Center in Doylestown. This center is set to be Pennsylvania's first crisis stabilization facility.
The CPF initiative, part of the FY2024 Consolidated Appropriations Act, allows Members of Congress to direct federal funds towards projects within their districts addressing significant community needs. Through this program, Fitzpatrick has secured over $27.5 million for 14 projects benefiting First District constituents for FY2024 alone. In previous years, he obtained more than $19 million and $6.6 million for various projects in FY23 and FY22 respectively.
The funding will support the creation of the Bright Path Crisis Stabilization Center, aimed at addressing mental health and substance use disorders in Bucks County. The center will consolidate various behavioral health crisis services under one roof, offering trauma-informed and person-centered care in a supportive environment. This centralized approach seeks to provide streamlined access to essential resources previously spread across multiple locations.
Bucks County Commissioner Diane Marseglia expressed gratitude for the funding: “I am deeply grateful for this pivotal contribution... Thanks to Congressman Fitzpatrick's steadfast support... we near the finish line on projects that will revolutionize crisis services and deliver life-changing support.”
Congressman Fitzpatrick highlighted his commitment as Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder Task Force: “This $1 million in funding secured for the Bright Path Center marks a major development... I look forward to working with Lenape Valley Foundation, Doylestown Health, Bucks County Department of Behavioral Health/Developmental Programs, Bucks County Drug & Alcohol Commission, Magellan Behavioral Health, and NAMI as this project progresses.”
The 22,000-square-foot Bright Path Center will be situated next to Lenape Valley Foundation’s site at 500 N. West Street in Doylestown. The center will operate around-the-clock with experienced behavioral health professionals available to address urgent mental health issues, substance abuse challenges, and intellectual disabilities. Separate spaces for children and adults are designed to offer compassionate care tailored to de-escalating crises and determining paths forward.
