WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01), Chairman of the National Intelligence Subcommittee of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and Member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, led a series of Intelligence meetings in the United Kingdom last week. The purpose of the meetings was to assess the status and health of the United Kingdom National Security Model (NCA, MI-5, MI-6), as well as to strengthen relationships with our key strategic intelligence partners.

Congressman Fitzpatrick met with the US Embassy London’s Deputy Chief of Mission, Matthew Palmer, and with Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) Director Anne Keast-Butler. The country team hosted roundtable discussions on mutual US-UK topics of concern from foreign influence campaigns, transnational repression, nation state cyber threats, and foreign investment. Next, Congressman Fitzpatrick visited several UK offices, meeting key leaders and subject matter experts at Military Intelligence section 5 (MI5), Ministry of Defense (MOD), National Crime Agency (NCA), and National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).

As Chairman of the National Intelligence Subcommittee, Congressman Fitzpatrick conducts oversight of intelligence programs and partnerships that exist to protect our US national security.  These meetings provided crucial insight into how the United States Intelligence Community (USIC) can continue to work with the United Kingdom to better enhance our security efforts on a global scale, as well as strengthening our NATO alliance. These meetings provided critical input for US-UK efforts to enhance the security landscape of both countries, and Congressman Fitzpatrick looks forward to continuing these efforts through his various national security roles in Congress.
