Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, U.S. Congressman representing Pennsylvania’s 1st district since 2017, recently shared a series of posts on his official X account addressing educational policy and the impact of federal funding, as well as reflecting on a recent loss in the public sphere.

On February 12, 2026, Fitzpatrick wrote: “The Department of Education exists to protect the rights and expand the opportunities of every student, regardless of zip code or ability, and to help ensure our schools remain safe places to learn and grow. For years, I’ve partnered with leaders from the @PSEA and @NEA to”.

Continuing his focus on education policy later that evening, he stated: “IDEA changed the trajectory of millions of children’s lives. It ended an era when students with disabilities were shut out of classrooms entirely. That progress was built on a federal commitment to fund 40% of special education costs. Today, funding remains below 13%. A promise” (posted February 13, 2026).

In another post published early on February 13, Fitzpatrick addressed a personal reflection regarding James Van Der Beek: “Almost a year ago, James Van Der Beek shared a powerful reflection about walking through the darkest year of his life, and the faith he found on the other side. Yesterday, at just 48 years old, a devoted husband and father of six passed away. Another life taken far too soon by”.

Fitzpatrick has been serving in Congress since replacing Mike Fitzpatrick in 2017. He represents Pennsylvania’s 1st district and resides in Levittown after being born in Philadelphia in 1973. Fitzpatrick holds degrees from La Salle University (BS) and Pennsylvania State University (JD), completing his legal studies in Carlisle.
