Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania’s 1st district since 2017, recently shared insights on social media regarding cybersecurity threats to healthcare facilities and his legislative response. Fitzpatrick, born in Philadelphia in 1973 and a resident of Levittown, holds degrees from La Salle University and Pennsylvania State University.
On June 17, 2025, Rep. Fitzpatrick posted a tweet without additional commentary or content here.
The following day, on June 18, he addressed the pressing issue of cyberattacks on hospitals: “Cyberattacks are hitting our hospitals harder than ever—putting lives at risk, exposing patient data, and straining care delivery.” He emphasized the urgency of the situation after consultations with healthcare leaders who expressed their concerns about these attacks.
In response to these discussions and concerns raised by community healthcare leaders, Fitzpatrick announced that he had introduced bipartisan legislation aimed at tackling this issue: the Healthcare Cybersecurity Act.
