Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, a senior member of the House Intelligence Committee, has released a statement addressing the recent conflict between Israel and Iran. He emphasized the United States’ steadfast commitment to its allies and highlighted concerns regarding Iran’s regime.
“This week, Israel took unilateral action in response to persistent and escalating threats from the Iranian regime. While the United States was not involved in the operation, we stand—as we always have—with our ally Israel in shared purpose and mutual defense,” Fitzpatrick stated.
He further described a nuclear-capable Iran as an “unacceptable threat to global stability” due to its pursuit of nuclear capabilities, support for terrorism, and attempts at regional destabilization. These actions are viewed as direct challenges to U.S. interests and security in the Middle East.
“In this moment, we remain vigilant, committed to protecting American personnel, and united in our pursuit of peace through strength,” he added.
Fitzpatrick also stressed distinguishing between Iran’s government and its citizens who seek freedom: “In supporting the diplomatic efforts of the United States, we must draw a clear and necessary distinction: we strongly oppose the actions of the Iranian regime—but we stand in solidarity with the Iranian people and Iranian-Americans.”
He urged colleagues to implement internet freedom initiatives included in the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) aimed at countering efforts by Iran’s regime to silence dissent. He emphasized that policy decisions should minimize civilian harm while aligning with democratic aspirations within Iranian society.
“As Chairman of the CIA Subcommittee,” Fitzpatrick continues his oversight role on U.S. intelligence strategy while promoting bipartisan efforts against authoritarian threats globally. He remains dedicated to reinforcing democratic values both domestically and internationally.
