Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick announced that there are no plans to open an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in Pennsylvania’s First Congressional District. According to Fitzpatrick, his office contacted ICE after hearing concerns from local residents and received confirmation that no such facility is planned for the area.
“After hearing from concerned residents, our office immediately contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and we have received assurances that no such facility is planned for PA-1,” said Fitzpatrick. “When questions arise that impact our community, we address them directly, establish the facts, and ensure our community has clear and accurate information.”
Fitzpatrick stated that his office will continue to monitor federal actions affecting the district and provide updates as needed. He also reiterated his position against locating any ICE detention center within the district and pledged to oppose any future proposals.
Brian Fitzpatrick has represented Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District since 2017, succeeding Mike Fitzpatrick. Born in Philadelphia in 1973, he currently lives in Levittown. He graduated from La Salle University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1996 and earned a law degree from Pennsylvania State University in Carlisle in 2001.
