U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick and state Senator Frank Farry were honored by Life Sciences PA on Mar. 13 for their efforts to advance biomedical innovation and expand patient access to treatments in Pennsylvania.

The recognition highlights the importance of leadership in supporting the state’s life sciences sector, which includes over 900 organizations such as biotechnology firms, pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, research institutions, investors, and service providers. These groups play a key role in driving economic growth and improving public health across the commonwealth.

Fitzpatrick was named Federal Official of the Year for his advocacy in Congress to strengthen biomedical research and support policies that help move scientific discoveries into real-world treatments. He has worked closely with local innovation hubs like the PA Biotech Center in Doylestown and recently welcomed National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya to spotlight regional achievements. “The breakthroughs that will define the future of medicine are being developed today by the researchers, scientists, and innovators powering Pennsylvania’s life sciences community,” Fitzpatrick said. “In Congress, I’ve made it a priority to champion their work — strengthening biomedical research, advancing policies that accelerate innovation and ensuring patients can benefit from the discoveries being made today. I’m proud to partner with leaders like Sen. Farry and organizations like Life Sciences Pennsylvania to keep our commonwealth at the forefront of medical discovery, and I’m grateful for this recognition of the work we’re doing together.”

Farry received State Official of the Year honors for his roles as chair of the Senate Institutional Sustainability and Innovation Committee and co-chair of the Life Sciences Caucus. He has promoted awareness among lawmakers about how life sciences impact both public health and Pennsylvania’s economy. In November 2025, his legislation eliminating out-of-pocket costs for diagnostic breast cancer screenings became law as Act 52 of 2025.

“Pennsylvania’s life sciences industry plays such a transformational role in our economy, our communities and the future of medical innovation,” Farry said. “These individuals and companies are working every day to discover the next cure, treatment, medical device or lifesaving medicine. Supporting this industry has been incredibly meaningful, and I am truly honored to be recognized by Life Sciences PA.” Farry grew up in Bucks County where he graduated from Neshaminy High School according to his official website. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School of Business as well as advanced degrees in public policy and law from Rutgers University according to his official website.

Farry won election to represent Pennsylvania’s 6th District in Bucks County in 2022 according to his official website. His background includes public service roles within Middletown Township government and local fire company leadership according to his official website. He has also supported laws addressing issues such as penalties for porch piracy and illegal street racing according to his official website. Farry lives with his wife Kristen and their two children according to his official website.

The recognition by Life Sciences PA underscores ongoing efforts by state leaders to maintain Pennsylvania’s position at the forefront of medical discovery while expanding access for patients statewide.
