Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, Co-Chair of the Ukraine Caucus, recently undertook a significant visit to Ukraine amid its ongoing conflict. His mission included time with Ukraine’s National Guard Artillery and the elite Third Assault Brigade, where he joined Ukrainian special forces under artillery fire. During his visit to areas previously controlled by Russia, he described the region as “the most brutal war zone I’ve seen in my life.”

Reflecting on his visit, Fitzpatrick stated, “I came to see this war not through reports, but through the eyes of those risking everything to defend freedom.” He emphasized the need for the United States to lead with “clarity and purpose,” asserting the importance of supporting Ukraine at this “defining moment.”

His visit took place shortly after a Russian missile strike on Palm Sunday that resulted in the death of over 30 civilians, including children, in a house of worship. This attack highlighted the need for concerted international action against Russian aggression.

In Kyiv, Fitzpatrick met with President Zelenskyy to discuss strategies for securing Ukraine’s victory and long-term security guarantees. The meeting reinforced a shared commitment to not let Russia go unchallenged. Fitzpatrick also met with Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk to discuss bilateral legislative coordination.

Speaker Stefanchuk expressed his gratitude, saying, “I sincerely thank Congressman Fitzpatrick for his support. It is of tremendous importance.” Fitzpatrick reiterated his stance: “Peace through strength is not just a doctrine—it is a responsibility.”

Fitzpatrick urged Congress members to visit the frontlines to understand the imperative of this moment. Oleksandra Ustinova, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament, praised Fitzpatrick’s visit to the dangerous frontlines, emphasizing the morale boost it gave soldiers.

Rye Barcott, Co-Founder and CEO of With Honor, supported the congressman’s actions, saying, “We are delighted to be with Representative Brian Fitzpatrick on this important trip to the frontlines.”

Fitzpatrick has been a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence since 2021 and was recently appointed Chairman of the CIA Subcommittee. As a longstanding advocate against Putin’s policies, he has led initiatives such as the Stand With Ukraine Act and the Hard-Hitting Russian Sanction Package.

His visit builds on international engagements earlier this year, where he represented the U.S. at security summits in Munich and Brussels. Through these actions, Fitzpatrick conveys that the fight for Ukraine is integral to the broader struggle for freedom.
