Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, U.S. Congressman representing Pennsylvania’s 1st district, shared several statements on October 1, 2025, regarding his stance on government funding and community mental health care.

In a post early that day, Fitzpatrick reaffirmed his voting record on keeping the government operational: “I always have—and I always will—vote to keep the government open and avoid government shutdowns. I have voted this way under both Democrat and Republican Presidents. I have voted this way under both Democrat and Republican Congresses. On every single government funding bill” (October 1, 2025).

Later in the day, Fitzpatrick called on fellow legislators to withhold their salaries during lapses in federal funding: “I urge all of my colleagues to follow our lead and inform the House Administrative Officer that no Member salaries shall be paid during any lapse in government funding. This especially applies to my colleagues who voted against the bipartisan, bicameral funding bill that passed” (October 1, 2025).

He also addressed local mental health services by highlighting a meeting with Jon Rubin of Penndel Mental Health Center: “Strong community mental health care starts with trusted leaders, and Jon Rubin is one of the best. This morning, I met with Jon, CEO of Penndel Mental Health Center, a vital partner and non-profit mental health center that has served our community for over 50 years. Beyond” (October 1, 2025).

Fitzpatrick has represented Pennsylvania’s 1st District since replacing Mike Fitzpatrick in Congress in 2017. Born in Philadelphia in 1973 and currently residing in Levittown, he holds degrees from La Salle University and Pennsylvania State University.
