U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, who represents Pennsylvania’s 1st district, recently addressed several policy issues on his social media account, including U.S. tariffs on India, local environmental concerns, and gerrymandering.
On August 6, 2025, Fitzpatrick expressed support for the Biden Administration’s decision to raise tariffs on India in response to its ongoing purchases of Russian oil. He wrote: “I’ve been consistently calling for stronger action against those bankrolling Putin’s war, and I am grateful to the Administration for taking this step. The decision to impose an additional 25% tariff on India over its ongoing purchases of Russian oil sends a clear message:” (August 6, 2025).
Later that day, Fitzpatrick highlighted his efforts to address community concerns regarding a proposed development project at 136 Old Oxford Valley Road. He stated: “Last week, I formally requested an EPA review of the proposed development at 136 Old Oxford Valley Road after hearing directly from residents about concerns over stormwater runoff, drainage, traffic congestion, and the irreversible loss of open space. I met with neighbors,” (August 6, 2025).
On August 7, Fitzpatrick commented on the broader issue of gerrymandering in American politics. He posted: “Gerrymandering isn’t just a flaw in our system—it’s a deliberate distortion of it. This structural failure replaces fair competition with manufactured outcomes, rewards extremism, punishes consensus, and accelerates the polarization that tears our country apart. That’s why,” (August 7, 2025).
Fitzpatrick has served in Congress since replacing Mike Fitzpatrick in 2017 as representative for Pennsylvania’s 1st District. Born in Philadelphia in 1973 and currently residing in Levittown at age 49, he holds degrees from La Salle University and Pennsylvania State University.
